TRADE AND LOGISTICS CHALLENGE GRANT

Increasing Florida’s Role as an International Trade Hub

Workforce Florida, (WF) a statewide, business-led workforce policy board helping Floridians enter and advance in the workforce, and Hillsborough Community College – The Institute for Corporate and Continuing Education, (ICCE) a foremost training and business solutions provider, and Cross Border Partners Advisory Services, (CBPAS) a leading international trade and consulting services organization, have partnered to provide companies involved in the export of goods or services from Florida with Quick Response Training (QRT) funding to train employees, and deliver customized Trade & Logistics training, to increase Florida’s global exports.

The QRT Trade and Logistics Consortium Grant is a special time-limited statewide grant totaling $2 million aimed at meeting marketplace talent needs of existing Florida companies in this key sector. A goal of the grant is to assist each and every company in this sector improve its competitiveness by improving the skills sets of existing and new employees hired over the next year. The grant will be funded through Workforce Florida’s Quick Response Training program. The Trade and Logistics Consortium Grant is designed for “for-profit” companies who are in need of customized training for existing or new employees.

Together, we are working to create regional consortium projects which bolster international trade, growth in exports, and aid Florida companies to access new global markets.

If your business activities are directly or indirectly related to exports, challenge grant funds are available. Most companies involved in the manufacture, distribution, transportation, or related supply chains of goods or services being exported are eligible to participate. 96

Businesses that can benefit from customized training, which will assist to expand – or begin – exporting, are encouraged to participate in trade and logistics educational programs.

A variety of training courses are available, targeted to enhance trade and logistics work skills of employees ranging from entry level to senior leadership and executive positions. All core educational content must be applied towards the primary goal of achieving increased export growth. Some illustrative examples of the kinds of training programs that can be funded under the Trade and Logistics Challenge grant are noted below.

TRADE AND LOGISTICS CHALLENGE GRANT – Getting Started

Select from a variety of customized training options available through Cross Border Partners Advisory Services Global Advantage® core training curriculum and ICCE.

Eligibility – All Florida for-profit companies that have been in business for at least one year and are involved in any export related activity are eligible participate.

How Much Will It Cost? – Pricing will vary by program but as a rule of thumb, the grant will generally cover 75% of the training cost.

How Do I Start? – Let us know what kinds of training would assist your business to increase exports and create new jobs. (note: training subjects not limited to illustrative list). We’ll supply a short form training grant application which describes your company’s information and training requirements. Cross Border Partners Advisory Services will then submit the consortium application to Workforce Florida. Once approved, we start training.
